*POSITION FILLED* Experienced Infant Nanny Needed for Calm & Easy Going Family in Boston - $27-$30 per hour! - Job #021
First-time parents in Brookline are searching for an experienced and nurturing nanny to care for their 10-month-old baby boy. They are guaranteeing 40 hours per week and the schedule will typically be Monday - Friday from 8:30am-4:30pm. There will also be the opportunity for occasional overtime. They are looking for someone to start by the end of March, but are slightly flexible for the right candidate. Mom works out of the home, but her schedule does vary and there will be times she is off of work and the nanny won’t be needed because she is very hands-on. Dad currently works in and out of the home, but will likely be transitioning to fully remote in the near future. He has a dedicated workspace and is respectful of not interfering and trying to stay out of the way! They are looking for a nanny who has experience with infants/toddlers, is knowledgeable on developmental milestones, what to expect next, and can overall gently guide them as they navigate parenthood. They respect their nanny as a professional and value the unique skills, knowledge, and ideas she brings to the table. They are big on clear and open communication, so it’s important to them that their nanny is a strong communicator and committed to working as a team. They are offering $27-$30 gross per hour on payroll for 40 guaranteed hours per week + vacation time, sick time, and paid holidays!
Their ideal nanny is creative, proactive, responsible, calm, and patient. They would love a nanny who takes the initiative to plan various at-home educational/sensory activities as well as getting out of the house for walks, trips to the park, and eventually playdates, social opportunities, and other adventures so their son can explore the world around him! Their parenting style is gentle and connected while still enforcing necessary boundaries. For example, they believe in offering an explanation when saying “no”. They are not the type to dramatically rush over if their son falls over,, but at the same time, they validate his feelings and provide a comforting safe space. Their ideal candidate aligns with this and believes in making sure children feel heard and understood while giving them the tools to learn to emotionally regulate themselves and cope with difficult things. They want their child to grow up to be independent, resilient, and adaptable, so it’s important that their nanny helps foster these opportunities each day. Interested candidates should love talking to and engaging babies - even if it’s just to narrate the day and what you’re going to do next! They would like a nanny who will get on the floor and play rather than constantly sitting back and watching.
In addition to childcare, the nanny will be responsible for basic child-related tasks such as: child laundry, washing bottles/pump parts, preparing nutritious child meals/snacks, tidying toys, tidying child areas, cleaning up after self and child throughout the day, changing crib sheet and other child linens, taking out diaper trash, etc. They describe their home as very calm and stress-free. For this reason, candidates should be patient and not easily flustered when dealing with the challenges that come with caring for babies/toddlers! They are fairly laid-back parents and while their son is sleep trained, sometimes he might not take a long nap and that’s okay. Their nanny should be comfortable going with the flow and adapting as needed if the sleep schedule gets thrown off a bit. Both parents describe themselves as extroverts, so a candidate who is outgoing and has a strong ability to know when to step in and step out, would be a good fit. This is a long-term position and interested candidates must be up to date on all vaccinations, including Covid.
